Junior High Cross Country: Season in Review
Our first-ever junior high cross country had a successful first season.
The junior high now has a cross country team! The junior high has not had a cross country team in many years; many people believe this may be our first-ever junior high cross country team. A lot of students in fourth grade through eighth grade joined the team and have worked incredibly hard all season. They even got started before school began – this summer, they they ran in Tell City’s Schweizer Fest run and Sacajawea Maiden 5k to prepare for their upcoming season.
We had many students sign up to run this year, which is especially impressive since it was the first year for the team and no one really knew what to expect. Our seventh grade runners are Kylie Anastasiades and Makayla Hulse. Sixth graders Rylan Snyder, Caleb Hulse, and Brianna Evans joined the team. We even had some of our elementary students sign up to run – fifth graders Jackson Joyal, Ayla Snyder, and Nora Lawson; and fourth graders Arianna Hulse, Parker Joyal, and Brooke Evans.
The coach of the cross country team is Lena Joyal. She has done a great job working with the kids and pushing them to do good. She has also had assistance from many of the runners’ parents this year. Together, they have all worked very hard to make sure that this year was successful and fun for our team.
This team had a lot of success this year. Many of our runners have placed in meets throughout the year. Runners Caleb, Parker, Makayla, Brianna, Arianna, and Brooke have all placed in their respective age groups, earning them medals and recognition for their hard work.
We are so proud of our junior high cross country team! We look forward to watching them build on their success in the years to come.
