Preview: Cannelton High School Homecoming 2020

Cannelton’s traditional homecoming ceremony will take place on Friday, January 31st between the junior varsity and varsity basketball games. The basketball teams will be taking on Springs Valley. The junior varsity game starts at 5.

The theme of the night will focus on ‘Hometown Pride’ – with our colors, black and gold, being prominent on every level.

Senior Homecoming King Candidate Jose Flores and Senior Homecoming Queen Candidate Kendra Anastasiades.

Our first queen candidates is Senior Kendra Anastasiades. Kendra is the daughter of Matthew and Margaret Anastasiades. She has participated in both volleyball and cheer for 4 years. She has also participated in Pep Club and Student Council all 4 years, and National Honor Society for 2 years. Kendra’s future plans are to attend college and major in occupational therapy. Her most memorable moment was doubling the the school’s serving record her sophomore year by serving 16 consecutive serves. What she will miss most about CHS is the freedom.

Kendra is being escorted by king candidate Jose Flores. Jose is the son of Ronnie and Lori Stowe. He has participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball all 4 years. Jose has been a part of Student Council and Pep Club for 4 years each. His future plans are to enter the workforce after graduation. What he will miss most about CHS are sports, his friends, and Mrs. Hinton. Jose’s most memorable moment is winning the Southern Roads Conference tournament two years in a row.

Senior Homecoming King Candidate Rafe Garrett and Senior Homecoming Queen Candidate Desha Little.

Senior Desha Little is our second queen candidate. Desha is the daughter of Tally Little and Derricus Gilbert. She has participated in Softball for 2 years. She has also been a part of National Honor Society for 2 years. Her future plans are to attend Indiana State University and major in social work and criminal justice. Desha’s most memorable moments are meeting all the people that she will always cherish as friends and winning the softball game her junior year. What she will miss most about CHS are the crazy conversations in Mr. Oxley’s class, sitting at the picnic tables at lunch, and her bestie Lori.

Desha is being escorted by Senior king candidate Rafe Garrett. Rafe is the son of Brian and Mikki Garrett. He has participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball all 4 years. Rafe has also been a part of Pep Club, Student Council, and the Cannelton HiLife staff throughout all 4 years and National Honor Society for 2 years. His future plans are to attend college and study journalism and play basketball. His most memorable moment is winning the Southern Roads Conference tournament two years in a row. What he will miss most about CHS is seeing is friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers everyday.

Senior Homecoming King Candidate Logan Marshall and Senior Homecoming Queen Candidate Megan Powers.

Our third queen candidate is Senior Megan Powers. Megan is the daughter of Jenny and Allan Wells, and Matthew Powers. She has participated in Volleyball, Cheer, and Softball for 1 year each. Her future plans are to attend college and major in business management. What Megan will miss most about CHS is all of the volleyball bus rides when the team would make jokes, blare music, and scream their heads off. Her most memorable moments are always getting called into Mr. Snyder’s office and worrying that she was in trouble each time.

Senior king candidate Logan Marshall will be escorting Megan. Logan is the son of Josh and Jamie Marshall. While at CHS he has participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball throughout all 4 years. He has also been a part of both Pep Club and Student Council for 4 years, the Cannelton Hi-Life Staff for 3 years, and National Honor Society for 2 years. Logan’s future plans are to attend the University of New Orleans and major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. His most memorable moment is winning the Southern Roads Conference tournament two years in a row. What Logan will miss most about CHS is the teachers and his friends.

Our final queen candidate is Senior Tory Thomas. Tory is the daughter of Andrea Maffia and Scott Thomas. She has participated in Volleyball for 4 years, both Cheer for 3 years, Basketball for 2 years, and both Softball and Track for 1 year. Tory has also been a part of Pep Club for 4 years and Student Council for 3 years. Her future plans are to attend Spalding University and major in nursing to become a PICU nurse. What Tory will miss most about CHS is volleyball, her friends, and Mrs. Hinton. Her most memorable moment is cheering on the boys as they won the Southern Roads Conference tournament 2 years in a row.

Tory’s escort is Senior king candidate Bryce Faulkenberg. Bryce is the son of Cory and Carla Faulkenberg. While at CHS he has participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball all 4 years. He has also participated in Pep Club for 4 years and Student Council for 2 years. Bryce’s future plans are to enter the workforce after graduation. His most memorable moments all include the constant shenanigans with his friends and Mrs. Hinton. What Bryce will miss most about CHS are his teachers and friends.

Our final king candidate is Patrick Lawson. Patrick is the son of James and Renae Lawson. He has participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball all 4 years. He has also been a part of National Honor Society for 1 year. His future plans are to join the United States Marine Corps after graduation. Patrick’s most memorable moment is winning the Southern Roads Conference tournament two years in a row. What he will miss most about CHS is seeing his friends and teachers everyday.

Patrick will be escorting Junior Martayla Elliot. Martayla is the daughter of Jamie Santos and Miguel Tinajero.

Also representing the junior class is Lori Northern. Lori is the daughter of Jennifer Hurst, Roger Northern, and Christin Turner. Lori is being escorted by Devyn Komasinski. Devyn is a junior and the son of Tabitha and Chris Blake.

Representing the sophomore class is Caitlyn Chesterfield. Caitlyn is the daughter of Jim and Heather Chesterfield. Caitlyn is being escorted by Clayton White. Clayton is a Junior and the son of Rhonda Cvellar and Harold White.

Also representing the sophomore class is Emily Eigel. Emily is the daughter of Jason and Karen Eigel. Emily is being escorted by Jace Bryant. Jace is a Junior and the son of James and Jennifer Bryant.

Jayda Bond is our first freshman representative. Jayda is the daughter of Holly Reed and Brian Hayden, and Lee Bond. Jayda is being escorted by Nolan Aders. Nolan is a junior and is the son of Kendra and Billy Maffia, and Chris Aders.

 

Also representing the freshmen class is Haven Lane. Haven is the daughter of Tara McCallister and Clyde Parr. Haven is being escorted by Dylan Young. Dylan is a junior and the son of John and Cindy Young.
