Different Styles Over the Years
There have been many different styles over the past few years, including emo, indie, preppy, and old money. While there are many more, this article will focus on those four.
1. Emo
The emo style has been popular for years, sometimes for the wrong reasons. When most people think of “emo,” they picture chokers and short hair. But the style is much more than that. Emo fashion often includes ripped jeans with biker chains, shorts and tights, and a lot of black clothing. It’s a bold, expressive look that can be worn by anyone. If you’re someone who likes dark clothes, fishnets, and a more alternative vibe, emo might be your style.
2. Preppy
Preppy is a popular style on social media platforms. People tend to either love it or hate it, there’s usually no in between. When you think of the modern preppy style, bright colors and brands like Lululemon probably come to mind. A typical preppy outfit might include an oversized T-shirt, colorful leggings, and a pair of Golden Goose sneakers. While the colors are vibrant, the overall look is youthful and simple.
3. Indie
The indie style is diverse and full of creativity. It includes lots of color but can also lean toward vintage and darker-toned clothing. Indie is more of an aesthetic than just a fashion trend. Indie room decor, for example, often features neon posters, string lights, and hanging vines. This style encourages individuality and self-expression, it’s all about making it your own.
4. Old Money
Old money style is all about vintage elegance and timeless luxury. A famous example of someone with this style is Princess Diana. This fashion trend features neat, well-fitted clothing in classic, muted colors. Long skirts paired with matching blazers are common. Compared to the other styles, old money is more formal and polished.
Everyone has their own personal style, and every style is unique in its own way. When a trend takes off, lots of people start wearing it, but others stick to what fits them best. Whether you’ve found your style or are still exploring, there are plenty of options out there, and new ones are always on the rise.
