This fall, our Cannelton National Honor Society partnered with the SCARS foundation and hosted a shoe drive. The SCARS foundation is a foundation that is based in Chicago, formed to raise awareness for mental health, bullying, abuse, addiction, suicide and many other challenges people experience.

The SCARS foundation will be hosting a day of awareness on October 26th, 2019, at Joe Shaeffer Park (Castle Park) in Tell City, Indiana. On this day, there will be a basketball tournament, a car show, an art exhibit display, a 5k, Zumba, and so much more! The basketball tournament will be 3 on 3, and cost is 15 dollars per team. First and second place winners in the basketball tournament will earn a prize. The car show will have a 20 dollar donation fee per entry. All proceeds from all events will benefit the SCARS foundation.

For the shoe drive, we asked teachers, parents, and students to bring in shoes of any style or condition. These shoes will be used for the art exhibit at the park on October 26. However, the exhibit is being kept a secret, so details are not known at this time. Thanks to our community, we had an impressive turnout. Together as a school and community we raised nearly 100 pairs of shoes!

To support the SCARS foundation, and see what these shoes will be used for, go to Castle Park on October 26 and help raise awareness for a great cause!
